Hasan Elahi
Elahi’s photo-based work examines surveillance, data, citizenship, migration, and the systems through which identity and movement are tracked and recorded.

Hasan Elahi is a Bangladesh-born American interdisciplinary artist whose work examines surveillance, citizenship, migration, transport, technology, and the challenges of borders and frontiers. Born in Rangpur, Bangladesh, in 1972, Elahi received a BA from Bloomsburg University of Pennsylvania and an MFA from Cranbrook Academy of Art. His work has been presented at venues including SITE Santa Fe, Centre Georges Pompidou, the Sundance Film Festival, and the Venice Biennale, and is included in collections such as the Centre Georges Pompidou, Cornell University Libraries, and Zentrum für Kunst und Medientechnologie Karlsruhe.
Elahi has received a Guggenheim Fellowship, an Alpert/MacDowell Fellowship, and grants from Creative Capital, Art Matters Foundation, and the Doris Duke Foundation for Islamic Art. He is Dean of Arizona Arts at the University of Arizona.
